Position Summary

The Chapter President serves as the primary leader and ambassador for their local BGSC chapter. This role is responsible for fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging community experience while ensuring alignment with BGSC's mission, values, standards, and organizational goals.

The ideal candidate is a relationship-builder, strong communicator, and collaborative leader who is passionate about creating spaces where women can connect, belong, and thrive.

 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Community Building

  • Serve as the face of BGSC within your local community.
  • Cultivate a welcoming, inclusive, and values-aligned chapter culture.
  • Foster meaningful member engagement and connection.
  • Support member retention and overall chapter growth.
  • Create opportunities for members to build authentic relationships.

Chapter Operations

  • Coordinate and oversee local chapter activities and initiatives.
  • Work closely with BGSC leadership to implement organizational priorities.
  • Ensure chapter activities align with BGSC policies, standards, and mission.
  • Maintain regular communication with members and organizational leadership.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, trainings, and chapter check-ins.

Events & Programming

  • Collaborate with chapter leadership teams to plan and execute local events.
  • Encourage a mix of social, educational, wellness, service, and networking opportunities.
  • Ensure events are welcoming, organized, and reflective of the BGSC experience.
  • Gather feedback from members to improve chapter programming.

Member Experience

  • Welcome and support new members.
  • Help facilitate member introductions and connections.
  • Address concerns thoughtfully and professionally.
  • Promote a culture of kindness, accountability, and community care.

Leadership Development

  • Recruit and support chapter volunteers and leadership team members.
  • Identify emerging leaders within the chapter.
  • Encourage member participation and volunteerism.
  • Assist with succession planning and long-term chapter sustainability.

Time Commitment

Estimated commitment:

  • Approximately 5–10 hours per month
  • Attendance at leadership meetings and trainings
  • Participation in chapter planning and member engagement efforts
  • Support of local chapter events and initiatives

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with diverse groups of women.
  • Strong leadership skills with a commitment to community building and inclusion.
  • Previous experience in volunteer leadership or community organizing is preferred.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and execute events and initiatives that align with the mission of The Black Girl Social Club (Be Social).
  • Passion for empowering women and fostering meaningful connections within the community.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and represent the Bay Area chapter of The Black Girl Social Club, promoting our mission and values.
  • Organize and facilitate events and activities that foster friendship, belonging, and leadership among members.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local community leaders and organizations to enhance chapter engagement.
  • Recruit, train, and support chapter volunteers to ensure effective and meaningful programming.
  • Coordinate with other chapter leaders to share best practices and collaborate on initiatives.
  • Manage chapter communication and outreach efforts to increase membership and visibility of The Black Girl Social Club.
